Organisation and planning interventions

Organisation and planning interventions are often used to support children and young people who struggle with organisation and planning. At HSR Psychology, we provide organisation and planning interventions.

Who is suitable for an organisation and planning intervention?

Following an online safety intervention we will formulate recommendations for supporting the young person so that they can continue to be aware of online risks.

What happens prior to an online safety intervention?

Before an online safety intervention can be carried out, an initial discussion takes place. Our process is described below.

Our process

At HSR Psychology we ensure that we meet the needs of children and young people. To achieve this we ensure that any specific assessments, intervention, or direct work, is only carried out following an initial discussion.

An initial discussion allows us to understand the background and your expectations of our involvement. Having an initial discussion ensures any services we provide appropriately identify or address needs.

Our process for any specific assessments, intervention, or direct work is as follows:

Step 1: Contact us

We will usually be contacted by the child or young person, parent or carer, or another professional (eg education or health).

You can contact us or complete a referral

Step 2: Arrange an initial discussion

An initial discussion allows us to understand the background and your expectations of our involvement. Arrange an initial discussion

What happens during an organisation and planning intervention?

During an organisation and planning intervention, the individual will often learn about why organisation and planning is important and why they can be difficult. The individual will usually be encouraged to use helpful techniques to introduce organisation into daily activities: for example, through to-do lists. The young person will often be able to reflect on which organisation and planning techniques work best for them. Organisation and planning interventions can be provided on an individual basis or can be given in a group setting.

What happens after an organisation and planning intervention?

After an organisation and planning intervention the young person will be able to use effective strategies for becoming and remaining organised. Following an organisation and planning intervention it may be recommended that we carry out check-up sessions, if needed. Outcomes from an organisation and planning intervention can be provided through a face-to-face feedback session, or a more brief written report if needed. The HSR Psychology team will support you through the entire process of an intervention by offering the option to gain follow up support from ourselves.

Does an organisation and planning intervention come with a report?

Here at HSR Psychology, we always suggest that a report should be written following an intervention. This will include what happened during our involvement as well as the impact of this. Recommendations for the future will also be included. A report from an organisation and planning intervention can be used for a variety of reasons, such as: school use, medical use, personal use, funding and support, support with an application, or evidence for a different reason. Everyone's reasons for requesting an organisation and planning intervention vary. As such, if you decide a written report is not necessary then feedback will be provided to you verbally alongside a brief summary. Read more about our reports.
